FAQs

How long does each therapy session take?

My sessions typically last 55 minutes. On rare occasions, I can see you for a 30 or 45-minute session.

What are the ages and gender of your clients?

I work with ALL ( women, men, non-binary, and non-conforming) persons aged 18 and older.

What happens if I want to set up an appointment, but you are not taking new clients?

When space becomes available for new clients, we make announcements using emails, Facebook, and Instagram.  You can be added to the announcement list by emailing us at info@talkwithipcp.com or call/text us at (240) 406-8127.

We are not using waiting lists at this time.

How long does it take to get better?

I don’t have an exact answer, each person is different, and “better” can mean many things.

It greatly depends on these things and more:

  • Are you willing to truly reflect and implement change (change people/environments/thinking)?

  • How many layers do we have to uncover to get to “better”?

  • Can you withstand the discomfort that can come along with being vulnerable in sessions?

  • Is your environment and/or tribe supportive?

  • Can you accept help?  Even if it doesn’t look what you imagined?

  • Can you commit time and attention to getting better?

  • Do you want to get better?

Is therapy just a bunch of talking?

It’s more like structured talking.  Sometimes you will talk and I listen, sometimes we talk to each other, we might draw, we might cry, laugh or tap.  It could be anything, therapy can be unpredictable!

Can I just sit in silence during session if I want to?

Yes, you can.  Silence remains one of the most powerful (and uncomfortable) tools I know.  Sometimes people just cry too!  All of that is okay. We can do that until you are ready to use words.

Just remember that this is a service you are paying for.  Consider this…would sitting in silence be the best use of your time and money today?

Do you accept insurance?

We accept the following insurances:

  • Cigna

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield/Blue Choice

  • EHP

  • United Health Care

  • United Behavioral Health

Are there packages for clients who are paying out of pocket?

Yes,  We try to make access to therapy as easy as possible.  Click here to learn more.
