I started seeing Ms. Jones 2 years ago because I was really scared that I might have depression. Back then, I was helping my friend escape from an abusive relationship. I had taken on a lot of my friend’s problems as if they were my own without even realizing it. Ms. Jones helped me see that I had both anxiety and depression. With her help, I started to see that I was relying on coping mechanisms that I had learned as a child which were now hurting me instead of helping me. Ms. Jones showed me different techniques to help with my anxiety both in the moment and in the long run. Every time we met, she gave me the courage to act differently and build new habits, and after 2 years of hard work, I now have a loving boyfriend and healthy new friendships. She helped me address my perfectionism and break free from bad habits at work, and I’m no longer arriving late, chronically missing deadlines and avoiding my email. I stayed with Ms. Jones because she is very knowledgeable and she does an amazing job at explaining new concepts like anxiety, codependency, boundaries, perfectionism, and the grief cycle. When I started therapy, I was really overwhelmed by all the new information, but Ms. Jones was great at breaking things down for me and helping me set realistic goals. She is open-minded and regularly asked for my feedback on how the sessions were working for me. She is extremely professional. She never missed a single session and always accommodated my needs when I had to reschedule or when I needed extra sessions. The only reason I’m leaving Ms. Jones is because I’m moving out of state. Otherwise, I would absolutely still be her client.
